IMPERIAL CITIES
The best tour of morocco to explore the beautiful cities in the north and imperial cities, travel from Tangier to the blue city of Chaouen, to the spiritual capital of Fes, to the roman ruins in volubilis and the beautiful gates of Meknes then to Rabat and the royal tombs and ocean’s Kasbahs and mausoleums. It is in the North of Morocco that the Mediterranean sea marries the Atlantic Ocean, but nobody knows where Europe ends and where Africa begins and the legend does not say that it is here that Hercules after having dug the Straits of Gibraltar would have rested in these rocky cavities before completing the eleventh of the twelve labors: picking the golden apples from the garden of the Hesperidins? Nowadays Tangier, Chechaouen and the rest of northern Morocco continue to perpetuate their myth of yesteryear refuge for spies, writers, poets and artists of all sides and other ghosts that still haunt the place: Alexandre Dumas, Truman Capote, Jean Genet, Joseph Kessel, Paul Morand, Tennessee Williams ... An endless list of writers who gives the North of Morocco and the city of Tangier a mysterious halo. Led by Paul Bowles, the artists of the Beat Generation stayed in Tangier from the 1950s.
