Our dromedaries slowly penetrate in single file in the desert with a slow and swaying pace. The play of shadows on the sand dunes will hypnotizes you and makes you almost forget the discomfort of your mount. You will feel revived in this virgin wild nature that does not lie. Sand dunes stretch out on the horizon without worrying about borders. By this, somewhere is Algeria, but the dunes and the wind pass through the countries. In the middle of this seemingly infinite space, one feels infinitely small. We lose all our bearings to better find them. Only the present moment matters. The past is swept away by the wind like the footprints of our dromedaries on the sand. You will think of those nomads who chose this simple and uncluttered way of life in an environment that seems so inhospitable. What an incredible demonstration of resilience and endurance! Two hours and some muscle aches later, we are a long way from Merzouga. Our Berber tent camp is located in the hollow of a monumental sand dune that serves as a natural barrier.

Sore muscles or rheumatism. Let yourself be buried in the hot sand of the Merzouga desert, known for its therapeutic properties; Claustrophobe’s abstain. Psammatotherapy or arenotherapy or sand therapy or curative burial in sands or sand baths is a gentle medicine for people with rheumatism. It is actually literally sand baths, that is to say burying a few minutes in the hot sand of the dunes of Merzouga. Even though this practice is more frequent for locals, there is nevertheless a real tourism related to health in Merzouga.

CAMEL RIDE SUNSET
Ride camels for sunset is one of the main things that you shouldn’t miss when you are in Merzouga, you will crossg the Erg Chebbi with camels; spend the night with the nomads under the stars or in Berber camp in the middle of the huge sand dunes.
Merzouga has the highest dunes of all Morocco. Together, they make up the famous Erg Chebbi, whose great dune of Merzouga is the essential place of tourism in the Sahara. From a height of almost 200 meters, its ascent guarantees an incredible panorama, a huge expanse of sand dunes north of town. After the sunset you will ride camels back to your hotel or continue to the desert camp.

SAND BOARDING & QUAD BIKING
Erg Chebbi is also the ideal place for hiking in the Sahara or trekking on foot, mountain bike, or camel, it is also possible to practice paragliding or kites surfing from the great dune of Merzouga, an unforgettable sensations. A descent of the big dune to ski, surfing, bodyboarding, sledding ... Of course, the great dune of Merzouga is not equipped with ski lift, so it is on foot or possibly with a camel that you can climb, and then have fun down the slope for almost 160 meters! The Africa Hostel will gracefully lend you equipment usually used for winter sport.
